BODY CONTOURING (Liposuction)

You may consider liposuction…

Liposuction can permanently reshape body contours where excess fat deposits create areas that are disproportionately large in an otherwise balanced figure.

If you’re like most people, you’ve probably thought about liposuction. It can be very frustrating, if you watch what you eat and get a normal amount of exercise but still have those bulges, pouches, love handles or little fat places.

The removal of fat deposits from specific areas of the body is the most popular and fastest-growing cosmetic surgery procedure in America today. Liposuction can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas such as the chin and neck area, upper arms, abdomen, buttock, hip and thigh area, knees and your upper and lower back. Although liposuction can never be a substitute for exercise and proper nutrition, it can remove stubborn areas of fat that refuse to respond to exercise and diet. Liposuction should not be considered a substitute for overall weight loss.

Your Surgery

Dr. Bennett will perform your liposuction at the surgicenter on an out-patient basis (although many of our patients plan to spend their first night at the surgicenter) under general anesthesia. Through a very small incision in the skin, a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. As the cannula is moved back and forth through the fat layer, it breaks up the fat cells, which are then suctioned out. Following your surgery you will wear a support garment for several weeks. You may experience swelling and bruising and any discomfort can be controlled with oral medication. Dr. Bennett will also ask you to return to our office for six weekly treatments which will help your skin to shrink properly so that you will obtain the best results possible. Your recovery period is dependent on the number of areas you desire to have treated.
